Sunshine!

I've been posting on Facebook about Spring coming for a while now and finally, we had a sunny weekend!  Easter day couldn't have been more perfect. It's so beautiful outside with all the green grass and trees!  Here's my little Indian Princess and her freshly colored eggs!  We had a big time dying them and it was so fun to see her surprise every time we lifted them out of the cups of dye!  She had a little fit when we took them away to hide them in the front yard, but was happy to find them again!

Brooke and I went to the Master Gardner's Expo in Durant on Saturday and the plants were spectacular!  We visited lots of plant and craft booths as well as attended a couple of workshops on gardening.  I won two prizes - pepper plants and a "Mule's Ear" plant!  Sweet!  I've never even heard of a "Mule's Ear" plant before, so I'm interested on how it grows!  Fun, fun, fun!

Now that I'm free to do things, Jim has me following him on his bee keeping adventures!  Here he is checking out a swarm in a tree outside our house Saturday evening.

We noticed a bunch of them flying around our backyard and he was right when he said they were swarming!  I'm learning all about the bee world!  It's absolutely amazing!  We went out to inspect hives yesterday and I only got stung once!  haha  For some reason I thought they wouldn't come after me!  I'll be getting me a suit like this soon!

With the warm weather and sunshine, I almost don't need my Peptalk, but I'm gonna keep on listening to keep my head straight with ideas I want to think of.  It's so easy for me to be influenced by people and they way they think.  So, if I'm gonna be influenced, might as well pick who I want to be influenced by, right?!

Have a great week and enjoy the sunshine!

Auction Season is Officially Open!

We had a few out of the ordinary auctions earlier this year, but it's safe to say that auction season is now in full swing!  We normally start looking for them in March.  This weekend was super busy and I think my husband is secretly trying to kill me.  hehehe  We accomplished a lot of buying, loading and unloading and this old lady is sore!  We're going to be very busy until the end of October!

Our biggest "score" this weekend is this trailer!  Is it okay to tell the price?  I'm not bragging, but I kinda am....it was $400!  This size trailer costs $2,700 new, so I think we did very well!

Jim is a master at getting a great bid in!  He's tried to coach me, but I'm just not that fast!  haha  I love to watch him do his thing!  Here he is in the thick of it!  He's really checking out the tools and making some decisions!

On the other hand, I go for the cheapest deals out there!  haha  I'm not ready to go for the high ticket items because of my bidding skills.  I spent $36 at this particular auction and I'm happy with the things I'll have to go through soon.  Here's my loot!

Besides listening to my favorite Peptalk on the Peptalk app, Auctions have to be the best thing to lift my spirits!  Perhaps the laughter from not knowing what I'm doing that gives me the good feelings!  haha  You should see (and hear) me on the golf course!

I'm running behind this week, but it's all good.  I have plenty to keep me busy and that's a great thing!

Crafternoon

Crafternoons are one of the best ways to overcome a period of the blues.  My friends and family know I’m not feeling too hot due to the recent move my Mother made to the nursing home.  Fortunately, my friend, Cindy, sprung into action and created an afternoon of crafting for us to join.  It was only four of us, but it was really fun getting together, laughing, eating, sharing stories and creating.  It turns out, I’m not the only one going through something.  The reality of it is we are ALL going through something and Cindy was smart enough to recognize each of our individual needs and found something we could do together to release some of the anxiety each of us have been holding inside.

Here are a few pictures of our fun day!  Of course, there was no makeup, messy hair and a mess on the table, but it was so therapeutic!

The Hard-Working Table!

We wanted to do our work outside on a warm day, but in typical Oklahoma fashion, a cold front moved in.  At the last minute we had to change our plans to an indoor craft.  We went with string balls, something none of us knew much about!  We all contributed our best guess on how to make them.  Some of them looked ok-ish, but some were a complete fail!  We agreed that our string balls have "character!" After making a little over a dozen of these masterpieces, we considered looking up the technique online.  Duh!

Here's what we were going for:

Here's our "character" filled version:

Even with the not so perfect looking string balls, we had a great time, accomplishing what we really set out to do.  We were able to work with our hands and get them covered with a cathartic glue/starch mix as we opened up with our issues.  The highlight of the day was finally looking up from the table and finding this!

She certainly had a fun day too!  We got a good dose of great medicine - laughter!

As we move into the week, I have a little more energy to get back on track.  I’ve slacked on my walking, so that’s on the agenda this week as well as ramping up my Peptalk sessions.  Hopefully, things will seam a little more normal soon!  Thank you Cindy, Macy and Brooke!

The most constant thing in life is change. I'll remember our discussion and fun time when I look at my string balls.  I'm hoping crafternoons become a regular activity!
